What Marketers Mean When They Tell You To Post ‘Quality Content’

‘Ok, so what the hell IS quality content?’ ⁣⁣

⁣⁣If you are like me when I was a studious noob at social media marketing, this is a question you hear yourself repeating article after ‘how-to’ article. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣The internet is gunked up with this gooey, useless advice.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

‘Quality Content’ advice is the equivalent of all those recipe blogs that make you search through entire life stories to get to the damn ingredient list. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

Only the ingredients aren’t even there – just the step-by-step process, which is kind of useless when you want to make a pie and you don’t even know what goes IN the damn pie, am I right?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

That’s how most people are teaching social media marketing and this HAS TO CHANGE!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

So let’s break it down right now: ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

Quality Content Explained:

What it Is And What It Isn’t⁣⁣

⁣⁣IT IS:

Useful – It’s got to be worth people’s time and improve their life. Generally, this checks off as one of the three social media E’s: Educational, Entertaining, or Enlightening/Inspiring.

Urgent – It’s got to have and give energy for taking action and soon. It doesn’t have to be all ‘DO IT NOWWWW!’ but it does need to be a bit like a spuiker in front of a shop, waving passer-byers inside, like, ‘heeey, just step inside, we’re OPEN and it’s a cool shop RIGHT HERE, yo!’

Specificity – It’s not going to make any impact if you use general language – like ‘quality’. Paint a vivid picture with words that are specific descriptions, personal stories, and real-life examples of things. It makes the copy relateable. Put an opinion and personality into it & make it stand out from the herd.⁣⁣

⁣⁣IT ISN’T:⁣⁣

Transactional – People Google it and then come and take the info and run off with it and totally forget about who they took it off of because you didn’t put YOU into any of it!⁣⁣⁣

Non-emotional – Like it was written by a robot or for a corporate handbook.⁣⁣

Confusing – It needs to have ORDER, logic, clarity, and be succinct⁣⁣.⁣

And for a big wallop of cream on this pie my best advice for creating ‘quality content’ – study copywriting and learn how to use formulas based on human psychology.

Copywriting is the backbone of marketing; the truly secret sauce that makes *ahem* ‘Quality Content’.

The Secret ‘Quality Content’ Sauce is…*drum roll please*

…Better copywriting.

If there’s just ONE huge thing you can do right now to make your next social media post have more attention-grabbing (and holding) power it’s stronger copy.
