Visibility Without Filtration Will Attract Some Real Stinkers!
Stinkers are people who don't read the listing details, don't understand how long international postage can take, or even know what ''customs'' is (it's happened). They'll also want their money back well after the refund period ends, of course.
We don't want stinkers!
They cost up time and money that can really add up over the years.
While there's a lot you can do to limit these people from coming into your world, it is not your fault when they do.
Because they WILL. That is inevitable in business. You cannot filter out every bad client or customer when you are running a thriving online business!
It happens to even the best businesses. There are just too many bat shit crazy people in the world for some of them not to find you!
So what should you do? Well, you can develop a lot of patience and finesse with your customer service and communication. You can also LOCK down your audience and attraction FILTRATION systems.
Now, let me explain how to do this in your marketing.
There are 3 Essential Traffic Systems You Should Build To Attract Your Tribe Online
I always recommend building 3 different TARGETED traffic systems into your business. And importantly, do build them in this order:
1- SEO and AIO/GEO search-based organic traffic when you're a freshly hatched cygnet noob. π£
SEO and AIO/GEO are how people find you when they search for things online. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. AIO stands for AI-Optimization. Both are done through an online search engine like Google or Gemini.
You've got more time than you do funds. You may not yet be making a lot of money in your business, and your not busy just yet.
Or, you've started your business as a side-hustle while you're holding down a job.
Learning SEO NOW helps you lay down magnetic foundations from the start in everything from your website, your sales pages, your content, to your social media posts. π§²
Now, the way to use SEO to attract YOUR tribe is to use a niche interest or topic that your people are into but that will REPEL the people you do not want.
For example, having side-quest topics like ''The Law of Attraction'' and talking about Evangelical Christians. Or asking for pronouns and being gender-inclusive to repel bigoted conservatives.
Both things I do to be strategic with my marketing (it's not just for funsies!).
2 - Paid advertising when you're a sales funnel-building Marketician.πͺ
You've validated and sold a profitable product or service so you know there's both a market for it and that your sales messaging works.
Now your ready to roll it out on turbo to as many people as possible.
3 - Influencer Collaboration when you're a fully fledged, agency or team-running QUEEN SWAN. π¦’π
You've built up an audience that is now a valuable asset you can trade access to with another business owner who has an audience you know could help you grow.
So you work together in either a paid or trade partnership or mutually beneficial shout-outs.
Targeted Traffic Systems Help You Repel Some People & Attract Your Tribe, But You'll Need Then Whittle Down Further
After building the essential traffic foundation of your choice (or the one right for your stage in business) the next level filtration system is in your content.
It needs to take your new lead from TOFU to MOFU to BOFU.
Not the yummy Chinese takeaway kind of tofu - the customer journey kind that goes like this:
TOFU = Top Of Funnel - the most public, broadest kind of marketing designed to attract people who know nothing about your brand
MOFU = Middle of Funnel - all of the content, emails, blogs, podcasts, and videos that help customers continue to journey deeper into your world and content ecosystem.
BOFU = Bottom of Funnel - this is where conversions happen - conversion to sign-up to your free or paid offers. It's your customer saying ''hard yes'' to what you're selling or giving to them!
The big secret to making this journey down the funnel work to attract your tribe is that you must base each level on PSYCHOGRAPHICS, not demographics.β¨
A quick explanation of these terms is to say:
Demographics = who a person is on paper. Their age, race, weight, income level, etc.
Psychographics = whatβs going on inside their head. Their opinions, political leanings, cultural interests, and taste.
So, for example, instead of trying to appeal to ''women in their 50's who are married with children'' we're aiming at things that don't fit on a tax form like that. We are appealing to all the things that would probably NEVER go on a tax form at all.
Things like: ''Perimenopausal, PUNK AF, rage-filled witches who want to burn capitalism and patriarchy to the MF ground!''π₯
Do you see the difference now? One is all about generic descriptions, the other is a living, fire-breathing ANIMAL.
It has instant, Christian-Evangelical repellent built in. There's humor, positioning, and personality in your storytelling.
This is messaging with an in-built audience filtration system.
If you are goth and you use this messaging, only the coolest dark souls you'd want to enjoy a bottle of absinthe with in your loungeroom will be allowed into your world.
Or, if you a high-vibing spiritual business owner with a preference for natural and sustainable products, you can use this filtration messaging to attract the highest frequency, kindest souls into your world.
The right people will notice the symbolic codes, language, and references in your psychographically-attuned messaging.
The rest of the riffraff that hang all the wrong sort of freak-flags on their poles will automatically be turned away.
Good riddance, right? π
It's good to repel wrong-fit followers and subscribers whenever you can. They are costing you engagement, reach, and even increasing your monthly email service provider costs.
