Heads up! This post may contain compensated links which means I get a small tip for telling you about awesome stuff I love!🤘

If you’ve ever dreamed of creating your dream life and business and becoming a more self-disciplined, HIGHLY productive person, then this is for you, lovely guts!
When I first started working for myself, I had zero self-discipline, no structure, and no idea how to build a solid daily routine.
Like so many creative and unconventional people, I used to wonder if maybe I wasn’t cut out for entrepreneurship.
I thought “creating my dream life” required superhuman levels of focus and motivation.
Something people with ADHD, or anyone who struggles with executive function, often feel they just don’t have. 😭
But the reality is, you don’t need to become a completely different person to create your dream life.
You just need the right rituals.✨
Daily practices designed for how your brain actually works.
Once I stopped fighting against my natural rhythms and started working with them, everything changed. I went from chaotic, hungover, and overworked to calm, creative, and self-reliant.
So here I’m sharing the 10 daily rituals that have completely transformed my life and business.
These are neurospicy-friendly rituals, meaning they’re designed for people like us who crave freedom, creativity, and fun, but who struggle to feel grounded and productive.
I’ll show you how to gamify your habits, build self-trust, and motivate yourself on the days when your brain wants to do anything but work.
By the end, you’ll not only understand what these rituals are, you’ll know how to use them to start creating your dream life and business one small, powerful step at a time.
And if you want to go deeper, I’ve turned all 10 of these rituals into a free email series called Self-Reliance Rituals, where I share exactly how to practice each one in your own daily life. (You’ll find the sign-up form at the end of this post.)
So let’s kick things off and start creating your dream life, the neurospicy way!

1) Have a Life Manifesto For Creating Your Dream Life 🪄💫
First off, you have to understand what your why is in what you want to do.
If you’re going to start a business or if you’re going to work for yourself, what is the reason why you want to do it?
For me, my big reason has always been freedom.
I want time freedom. Location freedom. And, most importantly, financial freedom.
That’s freedom to do what I want with my time, freedom to work where I want, and also freedom to make as much or do what I want with my money.
And that is what being self-employed allows me to do.
So that’s ritual number one for creating your dream life: design a life manifesto.
I call it my ‘exotic life manifesto’. 🦚
For me, this is a written document. It’s a thing that I look at every single morning, and it helps remind me why I started my business. Why I’m doing what I’m doing. Who I’m doing it for.
It’s not just for me to reach all those freedoms.
I also want creative and unconventional women and gender diverse people to find their reason and to try to convince them that they don’t have to find their place in this world.
They can make it.
And that they can do it no matter how lazy or unself-disciplined or unmotivated they think they may be.
Because if I can do it (though it might sound cliché!) SO CAN YOU! 😉
And when you sign up to the Self-Reliance Rituals newsletter, you’ll get a FREE download of that exact same PDF that I use every morning in the very first email! (Find the sign-up form at the bottom of this page 👇)
2) Focus on The Power of One
This second ritual was a life changer for me.
I read a book years ago called Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg Mcgowen.
This book really resonated with me as a creative person.
It said that the more creative you are, the more you’ve got all these ideas running through your head.
You start and stop projects. You might start something, and you never finish it. It described EXACTLY what I had been like in my first business when I was a gothic and jewelry burlesque accessories maker. I had so many ideas that I could never stick to just ONE product. I was always making MORE new things.
After I read that book, I started to only focus on one product, which was burlesque headdresses.
And that’s when I started to finally make consistent sales and gain momentum.
So if you’re a creative person, look at all your different interests and all your different passions.
Ask yourself what is the ONE thing that I enjoy the most, but also that has a strng market and is in the most demand.
That’s what you want to look at.
You want to try to eliminate a lot of the other things that you’re doing and focus down on ONE product or service and just start there.
You don’t have to stay there forever. Just begin with it in order to get some momentum.
And once you get momentum with that, then you can sell other things.
But it’s so important that you’re not doing too many things when you are starting a business.
You have to eliminate things.
And this goes for your personal life as well.
I was trying to run a marathon 2 years ago and I found that um the amount of time that it takes to go for those long runs, it was really eating into the time that I needed to develop my business. I realized that I I really just needed to focus on my business.
And so that’s what I’ve been doing for like the last few years now. It’s been only business.
I’ve sacrificed a lot of social outings, a lot of alot of other things that I used to do a lot of because I know now that I’ve gotone purpose, one thing that I need to do every day, one project that I’m working on at a time.
And that focus has allowedme to finally get things going.
So that is ritual number two for creating your dream life and business: focusing on the power of one.
3) Stop Disappointing Yourself When You Want To Change
Now, this is a big one because this is the bedrock of where true self-discipline begins.
Many people think when they get into business that it’s going to be the technical stuff, or finding clients and customers, or making enough money that’s going to be the hardest thing to deal with, right?
But more often, it’s what’s in your HEAD that is the biggest problem.
Your own mind is going to get in yourway every single day.
It’s going to get in your way with fears and with procrastination, which is a form of fear.
And it’s going to get in the way with too many ideas, if you’re creative.
When you sit down to work, your mind can make you feel like you have climb an entire mountain, right? When all you really need to do is take the next step.
What that comes down to is that you don’t actually trust yourself enough to follow through on your daily planning.
This has been one of the pivotal changes in how I’ve thought about myself and self-discipline.
It’s that self-discipline is just these many many little acts each day, right?
And if you want to practice self-trust, you have to practice committing to these little habits.
For exampe, you don’t start with BIG commitments like, ‘I’m going to go to the gym five times a week!’
Because then you you’re just setting yourself up for disappointment.
Instead, start with just ONCE a week. And fully COMMIT to it.
You practice the very smallest amounts that you know you could do. Even on your worst day.
And through meeting those commitments day after day, week after week, suddenly you start to develop deep self-trust.
That’s how you can stop disappointing yourself so that you can start creating your dream life: a daily ritual of building self-trust through SMALL, attaianble habits and full committment.
4) Make Time Blocking FUN!
Time blocking means scheduling exactly when you’ll do each task and how long you’ll spend on it. When I first started my business, it felt like a million things needed my attention, and I hated making schedules. I’d plan, fail to stick to it, and feel frustrated.
Then one day, a perspective shift changed everything: planning creates time.
Planning creates freedom.
But only if you actually stick to the plan, right?
So when you look at everything you need to do in a week, assign it to specific time blocks.
Allocate 20 minutes for this, an hour for that, two hours for something else, and you suddenly create structure instead of chaos.
Time blocking also gives you time constraints, which are crucial for ADHD brains.
We often struggle both to start tasks and to stop tasks, especially when hyperfocus hits.
For example, I love writing.
I can easily spend an extra hour (or two) on a task because I’m enjoying it, even when I should be moving on.
Time blocking helps me stop, stay on schedule, and make progress across multiple areas.
I’ve even gamified it to keep my brain motivated. I use a Google spreadsheet with a color-coded system:
- Hot pink: Task completed on time
- Dark gray: Task missed
If I complete a whole row of hot pink in the morning, I earn 10 bonus points. At the end of the week, I tally my points and compare them week to week. High scores get a celebratory “you’re a badass, six-figure-on-your-way-to-six-figures businesswoman!” Low scores? “You’re owning a job, not a business” (a little harsh, but honestly, it keeps me motivated!)
Gamifying your schedule makes time blocking fun, visual, and rewarding, especially for ADHD brains.
The key is to find ways to gamify everything, from emails to household chores to work sprints.
If you want a head start, in Self-Reliance Rituals email #4, I include a copy of my time-blocking Google spreadsheet so you can start gamifying your week right away.
5) Give Your Brain A Mental Spa Session🧘♂️📓
Regulating your body is non-negotiable when you’re creating your dream life and business.
I didn’t fully understand this in my early days of entrepreneurship, but the longer you’re in business, the more you realise that your nervous system is the engine of everything.
We’re constantly slipping into stress, anxiety, worry, or even overstimulation. (Honestly, I used to get so excited about signing a new client that I couldn’t work for the rest of the day!)
This is why calming your nervous system through practices like meditation, hypnosis, or Yoga Nidra is essential—not optional.
For years, people told me I “needed to meditate,” but it never clicked until I understood why.
Deep relaxation shifts your body into a parasympathetic state, which extends your focus, deepens your creativity, and gives you more consistent energy throughout the day.
I follow Dr. Andrew Huberman’s structure of working in 90-minute blocks followed by a physiological reset: a workout, a Yoga Nidra session, or a hypnotic relaxation. Then another 90-minute work sprint. Followed by a reset. Then lunch. It gives your brain a chance to change gears instead of trying to stay locked into hyper-focus for hours on end.
Before I started this routrine, used to push through the entire day and end up exhausted by 3 p.m.
Now, after adding just 20 minutes of Yoga Nidra or hypnosis each day, I get more done in less time and feel significantly more grounded.
Every day, I head to my bedroom, put on my headphones, and spend 15–30 minutes in deep relaxation—whether it’s hypnosis, meditation, Yoga Nidra, or one of my favourite manifestation tracks. (I’ll link my playlist with my go-to favourite videos, Yoga Nidras, and my wealth/manifestation affirmations.)
This daily nervous system break is essential. Don’t skip it or discount it.
Regulating your body every single day isn’t just “self-care,”it’s a high-performance strategy.
As your business grows, you’ll see just how crucial physiological calm is to your success.
6) Power Up Your One And Only Power Tool For Self-Reliance🧠🪄💫
You need to invest time in enriching your brain every single day.
For me, this ritual happens at night. My Kindle is overflowing with marketing, business, and self-improvement books, and my podcast app is full of my favourites: The Life Coach School, a heap of marketing shows, and a few ADHD-focused ones that always help me feel seen and supported.
What I love about this ritual is how flexible it is.
I can learn anywhere.
I’ll go for a run and listen to a podcast, or while driving. When I go to the doctor’s office, I’ll take my Kindle and read while I’m waiting.
Continuous learning doesn’t have to be intense. It can be woven gently into your life.
Some people prefer doing it in the morning, but I actually advise against that. Your morning brain is precious—that dopamine, focus, and clarity are better spent creating, building, and doing the work that moves your business forward. Save the consumption (emails, books, podcasts) for later in the day when your brain naturally starts to wind down.
For me, that looks like climbing into bed at night with a podcast or my Kindle and letting myself learn, expand, and relax all at once.
If you’re in business, this daily learning ritual is essential.
7) Know your NUMBERS💫💸
It’s super important to know your numbers, as a friend of mine always says.
In business, this means understanding your cost of sales, your personal and business budgets, how much you need to earn, and what you should be charging per hour.
If you’re anything like me, you probably undercharged massively when you first started.
Most new business owners do.
But once you realise your overheads, your skills, and the true value of your expertise, you quickly understand that you can’t charge clients the same rate your old boss paid you. You’re not an employee anymore; you’re a specialist. And once you factor in admin, marketing, client acquisition, and actual billable hours, your rates usually need to be at least double what you earned in a job just to break even.
In ritual number seven of the Self-Reliance Rituals, I included a money-tracking spreadsheet to help you wrap your head around something I absolutely love: the FIRE concept: Financial Independence, Retire Early.
Create Your Dream Life Around F.I.R.E.: Financial Independence, Retire Early. 🔥
If you’re into business, self-reliance, or taking radical control of your life, you may have heard of it.
The FIRE approach focuses on tracking what you earn, what you spend, and widening the “gap” between the two so your money can eventually work harder than you do.
Some people get there through investing. Others through passive income. And some use a combination of both. True early retirement usually involves longer-term investments like index funds or bonds, but the core idea is simple: grow the gap.
I recommend some of my favourite books on FIRE in that email because this concept has been a huge motivator for me. I’ve always been obsessed with the idea of expanding the gap between what I earn and what I spend. It feels empowering, creative, and honestly kind of addictive, in the best way.
And I promise, it’s not boring!
Nothing in my emails is boring! 😉
So if you’re new to this concept, sign-up to get the Self-Reliance Rituals.
In it, I introduce you to some brilliant humans who talk about it non-stop and make it surprisingly fun.
8) Declutter Your Life🪄
We live in a physical world, right? And if you want time, location, and money freedom, your environment has to support that vision. You simply can’t feel spacious, grounded, or empowered if your home or workspace is constantly draining your energy.
That’s why organising your physical surroundings is so important. In this ritual, I share how I keep my house clean—especially as an ADHD human who absolutely has that room or drawer that feels like a boss-level challenge. We often keep our shared spaces tidy while hiding chaos in the places nobody sees. I’m exactly the same.
My craft area is… let’s just say “artistically feral.”
Eight years of running a craft business left one side of my office in a perpetual state of creative aftermath. I do a once-a-month attack mission on it, but the rest of my house stays very organised.
How? Fifteen-minute whirlwinds.
I never wait for that mythical full cleaning day. Cleaning doesn’t work like that—it’s a cycle. And cycles need maintenance.
So I’ve built short bursts of cleaning into my daily routine.
For example, if the microwave looks scary, I tackle it while my coffee brews. When living room needs a quick vacuum, I do it while I’m doing weights.
Tiny pockets of effort keep everything manageable.
This means I never lose an entire weekend to housework, and I can have people over without doing a meltdown-clean beforehand.
Now—for full transparency—I’m saying this as a woman without kids.
If you have kids, your situation is very different. And honestly? If I were you, I’d hire help. Housework with kids (and a yard!) is a full-time job on its own, and it’s unrealistic to expect yourself to carry that and a business.
As a business owner, paying someone to help you is not a waste of money, it’s buying back your time.
If you’re working your butt off Monday through Friday, you deserve weekends with your family or your rest—not scrubbing bathroom floors.
Outsource the things you hate so you can stay focused on creating your dream life and business.
That’s not indulgent, it’s smart!
9) Indulge Your Inner Badass With Solo Experiences
One of my core philosophies is this: you must spend time alone.
You simply cannot become self-reliant – emotionally, creatively, or financially – if you’re fused to everyone around you.
Whether it’s your partner, your family, or your kids, you need regular separation to reconnect with yourself.
I know this is especially hard for women with kids. You’re busy, you feel needed every second, and when you finally do take time for yourself, the guilt can hit hard. But when alone time becomes a regular ritual, something your family expects and respects, that guilt starts to soften. It becomes normalised.
For me, Thursday nights are sacred.
I go to the local mall (it’s open late), grab my diary, and spend an hour or two writing.
It helps me clear my head, process emotions, and just exist without anyone needing anything from me.
Even though I only live with my partner and two dogs, I genuinely suffer when I don’t get enough solitude. I need that spaciousness to wander, think, and be with myself.
When I look at women who are anxious, overwhelmed, or stress-eating or stress-drinking, it’s often because their brains are overloaded.
Too much noise, too much input. Not enough release.
Time alone gives you a place to slow down, exhale, and empty out the thoughts crowding your mind.
If you can afford it, book yourself a hotel room for a night. Order room service, read books, sit in silence – whatever nourishes you. If that’s not in the budget, consider house sitting or pet sitting. I did it for a year and a half and stayed in gorgeous homes for free, utilities and Wi-Fi included.
Sites like Aussie House Sitters, TrustedHousesitters, and PetCloud make it easy to find opportunities.
It’s an incredible, low-cost way to escape for a few days and reclaim your mental space.
You deserve solitude.
Not as a luxury, but as maintenance for your soul!
10) Build An Online Passive Income Stream 🪄💸💫
One of the biggest lessons I can share for truly creating your dream life is this: you don’t want to spend your life always being the employee in your own business.
If you’re trading time for money—whether you’re a freelancer, a social media manager, or handcrafting products to sell, you’re still operating as an employee.
Your income is limited by your hours, and that caps your growth.
From day one, you want to think like a business owner, not just a worker.
And the way I recommend doing that is by starting to build passive income streams.
These are ways to earn money even when you’re not actively working.
Some ideas to get started:
- Ebooks or guides
- Digital products on Etsy or Creative Market
- Templates, graphics, or downloadable tools
- Online courses or workshops
The goal is to create systems that make money for you, so your business grows even when you’re focused on other things.
If you want help turning your skills or ideas into a real, sustainable online income stream, I mentor women and gender-diverse entrepreneurs on exactly how to do that.
I can help you figure out your #1 bottleneck, clarify what type of passive income makes sense for your business, and show you step-by-step how to start earning without trading every hour for dollars.
Reach out to me, and let’s make your business work for you, not the other way around!
