Choosing The Right Software To Build a Money-Making Website

Unless you just love paying multiple subscription fees and learning 10 different types of software to run your online business, the best software option is always going to be one of the all-in-one marketing platforms.

Tech-phobic people make the mistake of thinking they are making things easier for themselves when they choose basic sites like Wix.

But when they inevitably hit the limit of what a basic site can offer, they will need to subscribe to another software.

More costs, more time to learn even more tech.

Even when things are super simple, every new software can be a time suck.

And each one will nickel-and-dime you as you grow. In addition to being a huge pain-in-the-ass to connect up to each other. 🙄

However, I would never recommend the all-in-one, more expensive platforms for certain types of businesses…

If you’re NOT planning to get into content marketing, search-based organic marketing (SEO), or sharp-shooter, segmented audience selling via email newsletters, absolutely choose the basic, cheaper sites.

They are fantastic for brick-and-mortar businesses or mostly offline businesses. And so easy to build these days; it’s all just drag and drop.

But if you want to build a serious money-making website that leverages automation?

Choose an all-in-one marketing platform that also offers a great affiliate program.

An affiliate program is when a company pays you a commission for promoting their product or service. 🪄💸

You sign up, get a special link, and when someone clicks your link and buys, you earn a cut of the sale. Like a small tip!

The beauty of affiliate marketing is that you don’t have to create the product. Or handle customers, manage brand reputation, or ship anything yourself.

Think of it like being a brand’s marketing partner. You share what you already love, and you get paid when others buy through you.

When you go with an all-in-one software that has a great affiliate program, you’re setting yourself up for long-term income growth.

So two things can happen when you choose the more advanced, often more expensive (but not necessarily so) software from the start.

One, you save time having to learn multiple software programs, including the time you’d need for switching from any free or basic ones you may be tempted to use when you’re getting started.

And two, you create the potential to earn money off the back of that investment from day one.

For example, you can learn how to use a program well enough to recommend it to your friends and followers, sell templates, courses, and content using your affiliate link.

You may not have a business that in any way is related to digital marketing.

But you could sell your expertise in how you do what you do to others within your industry who want to learn how you do it.

For example, a tarot reader who builds a successful online business can also teach other tarot readers how to build an online business.

This is why I am speaking to the ambitious creatives here, OK?

‘Cause if this sounds like work to you, it’s probably not a great idea for you.

But if it sounds like a no-brainer money-making opportunity, then hello, my lovely Marketician friend!

Let’s now dive into what makes a website a money-maker, once you’ve chosen the software you want to use.

The Software I Recommend To Build a Money-Making Website (My Brutally Honest Opinions!)

After working with dozens and dozens of different types of software over the years for my own online business as well as for my clients, I can say some are a lot better than others. 

And it’s never the basic website-builders that are the problem…

It’s easy to choose a software if you only need a website or a landing page.

The issues arise when you need a paygate, an email service provider, a blog that you can optimize for organic searches, a course membership portal, or an e-commerce store.

Then you’ll need each software to connect and communicate with each other.

But it all depends on what you need most for the type of business that you have.

So let me break it down for you…

These are the top 6 all-in-one platforms with my personal opinion of each:

1. HubSpot Marketing Hub – what the big corporations and celebrity marketers use. Expensive AF.
2. Go High Level – this is where you want to be if you are a coach, mentor, freelancer, or have an agency. It’s what I now use for email. It has an in-built CRM (customer relationship management) software. It’s currently the online marketing industry’s favorite darling.
3. System.io – I’ve only ever heard great things about Systeme, and it’s VERY affordable. You can start for free, too.
4. Kartra – Does it all, and with style. It’s loved for its clean interface. Personally, didn’t like it for emailing.
5. ClickFunnels – The OG sales funnel builder, the classic one for serious funnel-focused geeks.
6. Groove – free to start and still offering a stunning lifetime deal, but with high risks. They have made some serious fuck-ups over the years, which is a shame because I love building web pages with it. I had to move all my email newsletters off of Groove, but I still use my lifetime deal with Groove for everything else.

Now, I won’t get into the details of each software here because software changes a LOT.

But these are what I most recommend as of August 2025.

My current software stack is:

Go High Level for a CRM and email, Groove for pages, paygates, and funnels, and WordPress.org for search-optimized blogging.

Tech-savvy people use WordPress for duct-taping together everything, but I do not recommend that.

WordPress is the one software that still confuses TF out of me, and I’ve been using it for 15 years! 😅

I recommend always researching each software you are considering to stay updated on the latest changes.

The Two Basic Things You Need to Make a Website WORK

Ok, now that we’ve got software choices out of the way, let’s talk about the important difference between a website that just sits there and one that works like a virtual cash dispenser.

While there a LOT and I mean a LOT of different parts to making a money-making machine out of a website, it boils down to two things:

First, you need to be selling something people WANT to buy.

The offer.

It MUST be great. And a LOT goes into making an offer great…

Great photos, great copywriting, great market positioning…a LOT. I recommend studying what makes an offer great.

Second, you need TRAFFIC. 🪄 🚗💫

So that means LOTS and LOTS of people flowing to the website. Every week, every day, every HOUR.

There are 3 main ways to get traffic to a website:

1. Organically, for FREE, through SEO and social media. If you don’t understand SEO, take my SEO Keywords 101 mini-course.
2. With paid ads. Meta Ads, Pinterest (best for e-commerce), TikTok, etc.
3. Through collaborations with people who have the audience that you want. Like UGC Influencers (User Generated Content).

Marketicians know how to design systems that ensure they have both.

Systems that run 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. 🪄🌪️

And often, to create and automate those systems, it’s super helpful to use an all-in-one platform.

They lay the foundation for online empires, not just a half-hearted weekend side-hustle.

The best option will be the one that both suits your business model best + gives you the most opportunities for getting it to pay for itself (or even create a profitable additional income stream.

It’s an investment that saves you money, frustration, and endless rebuilds in the long run.
